Stereo A Reveals the Sun's Corona
A special instrument and occulter on Stereo Ahead reveals the sun's corona. The coronal dust filaments around the sun (seen in black/green from Stereo-A Cor1) seem to have appeared with the low activity cycle of the sun. Looming above the sun's northern pole like a crown, a formation can be seen within the dust. The structure has lasted for some years, slowly drifting around the pole.
Is it the effect of the instrument looking at the sun for too long? Or is the shape actually there?
